"In order to build an indestructible organisation of the people and ensure our victory in every endeavour, my mentor, second Soka Gakkai president Josei Toda, repeatedly stressed the utmost importance of unity. He led us forward in complete accord with the Daishonin's instruction: 'If the spirit of many in body but one in mind prevails among the people, they will achieve all their goals' (WND-1, 618). Because we have followed this unerring path, the SGI has overcome every obstacle to develop into the global organisation it is today.

"When we look at human history, we find it filled with unending internal discord, conflict, and strife. Such events are equivalent to the 'calamity of revolt within one's own domain' cited by the Daishonin in his treatise 'On Establishing the Correct Teaching for the Peace of the Land.' In the context of this lamentable state of human affairs, it is no exaggeration to say that the great humanistic network of the SGI is a miracle of miracles.

"The unity of 'many in body, one in mind' is indeed the very lifeblood of kosen-rufu.

"Let us create happy, peaceful homes, develop friendships with others around us, foster trust and goodwill in our communities, and build solidarity among people for peace in global society. Let us unite in spirit and advance together harmoniously. Unity is an essential key to victory and happiness."
