A translation of President Ikeda's "To My Friends" published in the Seikyo Shimbun and more. Saturday, July 11th, 2015 -- TO MY FRIENDS -- Good health is indeed the driving force for our advancement. Is everyone feeling alright? Is there anyone who is overtired? Paying such close attention to each of our members as a leader, let's always try to be considerate and carefully look after our fellow members. Saturday, July 11th, 2015 --- DAILY GOSHO --- "When I, Nichiren, first took faith in the Lotus Sutra, I was like a single drop of water or a single particle of dust in all the country of Japan. But later, when two people, three people, ten people, and eventually a hundred, a thousand, ten thousand, and a million people come to recite the Lotus Sutra and transmit it to others, then they will form a Mount Sumeru of perfect enlightenment, an ocean of great nirvana." (The Selection of the Time - The Writings of Nichiren Daishonin, Volume 1, page 580) Selection source: SGI President Ikeda's guidance, Seikyo Shimbun, July 11th, 2015 Sunday, July 12th, 2015 ---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ---- "Wisdom is essential for both health and long life. It is also a vital ingredient for happiness. If we wish to create an age in which people enjoy good health, we must first create an age that is founded on wisdom. "As for the relationship between sickness and death, illness does not necessarily lead to death. Nichiren Daishonin writes: 'Illness gives rise to the resolve to attain the way' (WND-1, 937). Just as he says, illness can motivate us to take stock of ourselves, to reflect on the essence of life and our way of living. Through struggling with illness, we can gain a much fuller understanding of life and forge invincible spiritual strength." SGI Newsletter No. 9263, The Wisdom for Creating Happiness and Peace, Part 2: Human Revolution, Chapter 11: "Illness Gives Rise to the Resolve to Attain the Way," 11.1 Struggling with Illness Can Forge Invincible Spiritual Strength, from the June 2015 issue of the Daibyakurenge, translation released 6th July, 2015 * The Japanese kanji is available by clicking on Seikyo Shinbun's web-site address at http://www.seikyoonline.jp/news/index.html --WAGATOMO NI OKURU-- KENKO KOSO ZENSHIN NO CHIKARA.
