--- TO MY FRIENDS ---
Our practice of Buddhism provides us
with the supreme philosophy for achieving victory in our lives.
Let's boldly and courageously share with our friends,
the conviction and confidence that we have gained through our own experiences.
Let's walk along the "two ways of practice and study!"*

* "Exert yourself in the two ways of practice and study. Without practice and study, there can be no Buddhism. You must not only persevere yourself; you must also teach others. Both practise and study arise from faith. Teach others to the best of your ability, even if it is only a single sentence or phrase. "

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"Can anything exceed the sun and moon in brightness? Can anything surpass the lotus flower in purity? The Lotus Sutra is the sun and moon and the lotus flower. (Therefore it is called the Lotus Sutra of the Wonderful Law. Nichiren, too, is like the sun and moon and the lotus flower.)"

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"The "Former Affairs of King Wonderful Adornment" (27th) chapter of the Lotus Sutra states: 'We have been blessed with great good fortune from past existences and so have been born in an age where we can encounter the Buddha's Law' (LSOC27, 356).

"In other words, our encountering Nichiren Buddhism is not a coincidence, but the result of good fortune and benefit from past existences. It may seem that we have learned about Buddhism for the first time and started practising through encountering someone who told us about Nam-myoho-renge-kyo. But that is just an external cause; the real inherent cause lies farther in the past. We are originally people 'blessed with great good fortune from past existences,' who have exerted ourselves tremendously in Buddhist practice over a long period of time.

"Nichiren Daishonin discusses the aforementioned sutra passage in greater depth in The Record of the Orally Transmitted Teachings, stating:

'This passage is saying that, if one can establish a relationship with even just one phrase of the Wonderful Law [the Lotus Sutra], that relationship will continue unbroken over a million kalpas, and one can bring to realization the priceless jewel of the Great Vehicle [that is, polishing and revealing the supremely noble life state of Buddhahood], which is known as being "born in an age where one can encounter the Buddha's Law." This is the Buddha's Law of Nam-myoho-renge-kyo.' (OTT, 219)

"The good fortune and benefit one gains by establishing even the slightest relationship with the Mystic Law will last forever."
