-- TO MY FRIENDS --
Let's show our utmost respect and appreciation to
those who wholeheartedly devote themselves behind the scenes!
Let's sincerely empathise with
those who are in the midst of suffering!
Let's be sure to illuminate each and every member fully enough
so as to make everyone happy and for people to comment,
"How attentive and considerate! You even did this!"

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"Today, more and more people recognise the invaluable contributions our members are making, regarding them as pillars of their communities and placing immense trust in them.

"The Daishonin writes: 'I, Nichiren, humble person though I am, have received Shakyamuni Buddha's royal command and come to this country of Japan. Thus it is apparent from the [Lotus Sutra] that anyone who speaks a word of slander against me will be committing a crime that will condemn him to the hell of incessant suffering, and anyone who offers so much as a word or a phrase on my behalf will acquire greater blessings than if he had made offerings to countless Buddhas' (WND-1, 331).

"As practitioners of the Mystic Law following in the Daishonin's footsteps, let's take pride in being the pillars of respect for the dignity of life, happiness and security for all people, and peaceful coexistence for humankind."

SGI Newsletter No. 9609, Bodhisattvas of the Earth—Unshakable Pillars of Society, from the June 2017 issue of the Daibyakurenge, translation released 15th May, 2017
