-- WORDS OF THE WEEK --
The solidarity and unity of the SGI women is
like the sun that illuminates a society for peace.
The Daishonin teaches,
"The voice carries out the work of the Buddha."*
Shining with the Buddha's blessings and wisdom**
and brimming with the confidence
we have in this practice,
let's talk with as many people as possible,
without hesitation,
about this Buddhism and its philosophy!

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"The blessings and wisdom of the objective and subjective worlds are immeasurable. Nam-myoho-renge-kyo has these two elements of blessings and wisdom."
(The Universal Gateway of the Bodhisattva Perceiver of the World's Sounds, The Essential Passage in Each of the Twenty-eight Chapters of the Lotus Sutra
- The Record of the Orally Transmitted Teachings, page 218)
Selection source: "Kyo no Hosshin,"
Seikyo Shinbun, May 29th, 2017
Tuesday, May 30th, 2017
---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"'If a boat is handled by an unskilled steersman, it may capsise and drown everyone aboard. Likewise, though someone may have great physical strength, if he lacks a resolute spirit, even his many abilities will be of no use.'
- From "The Supremacy of the Law" (WND-1, 614)
"Once a ship sails out to sea, huge responsibility rests on the shoulders of those at the helm. Similarly, leaders must remain unshaken in the face of even the fiercest storms.
"Chant earnestly with the resolve to firmly protect everyone and guide them to the harbour of happiness and victory. The power of the Buddha and the Law will manifest in direct proportion to the power of your faith and practise.
"The greater the challenges and the efforts you make, the greater the good fortune and benefits you will accumulate. I'm counting on you to demonstrate outstanding leadership to navigate the way forwards through even the most turbulent seas as you strive to help everyone bring forth their inner potential."
SGI Newsletter No. 9618, Advancing with the Gosho: Words of Encouragement from SGI President Ikeda, (65) Demonstrate Outstanding Leadership, translated from 23rd May, 2017, issue of the Seikyo Shinbun, translation released 25th May, 2017
