grow and develop especially
through their actual practice.
Let's, therefore, chant daimoku, talk
and take action together with them!
Let's take every possible opportunity
to help raise our younger and newer members
so that they will become even more capable
than we are!

"However, you have no children and live alone as husband and wife. The sutra states, 'The living beings in it [the threefold world] are all my children.' If this is so, then Shakyamuni Buddha, the lord of teachings, must be a compassionate father to both of you. I, Nichiren, must be your child, but, wishing to save the people of Japan, I am residing for the time being in the central part of the country."

"In The Record of the Orally Transmitted Teachings, Nichiren Daishonin clearly states:
'The place where the person upholds and honors the Lotus Sutra is the "place of practice" to which the person proceeds. It is not that he leaves his present place and goes to some other place. The "place of practice" is the place where the living beings of the Ten Worlds reside. And now the place where Nichiren and his followers chant Nam-myoho-renge-kyo, "whether . . . in mountain valleys or the wide wilderness" [LSOC21, 316], these places are all the Land of Eternally Tranquil Light. This is what is meant by "the place of practice." (OTT, 192)'
"Hence, we of the Soka family—vibrantly chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo as the Bodhisattvas of the Earth—continue to share Nichiren Buddhism with one person after another, and to home visit each member in our effort to transform our community into a Land of Eternally Tranquil Light. We never give up, even in the most challenging places; we refuse to be defeated, even by the most daunting calamity."
