[SGI-ToMyFriends-Wagatomo] 2nd-8th July 2018 Words of the Week, 2nd July Daily Gosho & 3rd July Daily Encouragement

A translation of "Words of the Week" published in the Seikyo Shinbun based on President Ikeda's recent guidance, and more.

July 2nd-8th, 2018
-- WORDS OF THE WEEK --
Now is the month of youth!
With a youthful spirit,
let's all try to have conversations
which are full of hope and conviction
with as many people as we can.
Just as the Daishonin encourages us,
let's call forth the youthful Bodhisattvas of the Earth
one by one, one after another,
"two, three and even a hundred" of them.

"At first only Nichiren chanted Nam-myoho-renge-kyo, but then two, three and a hundred followed, chanting and teaching others. Propagation will unfold this way in the future as well. Does this not signify 'emerging from the earth'?"
-  "The True Aspect of All Phenomena,"
WND-I, page 385

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"But the basic character of a Buddha is honesty and straightforwardness."

(The Daimoku of the Lotus Sutra
- WND, Vol. 1, page 148)

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"Dr. Vincent Harding (1931 to 2014), a noted historian and close friend of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., also valued one-to-one dialogue. He said emphatically to me: 'No matter how small the group, when people get to know and understand one another and share their thoughts and opinions, they can discover a path to new possibilities and unexpected transformation.'*

"Strong bonds are formed when people get together on a regular basis to talk, engage in dialogue and encourage one another. Such gatherings provide a truly rich environment for creating value."
