"Writing to a disciple who was an old friend and colleague of another disciple who had died, the Daishonin says: 'Now that he has passed away, I see him in you. As such is the case, what need is there for me to feel empty [or bereft]?" (WND–2, 497).
"These are very profound words.
"This life time is limited, but when we dedicate ourselves to advancing kosen-rufu and perpetuating the law, our lives will live on eternally in and through our successors–in whom we can be seen, as the Daishonin says above–who will surely and steadily carry on our legacy.
"This vow for kosen-rufu transcends feelings of sadness and grief at the transience of life."
