June 13th - 20th, 2021
-- Words of the Week --
There is nothing that is
more eloquent than the truth.
The Daishonin states,
"You must speak
with even greater fervour."*
Let's be proud and confident,
and talk to others
with honesty and sincerity!
Through so doing,
the seeds of happiness,
based on Buddhism, are spread
and a land full of
treasures of hope is cultivated.

*"Though you may think that there is no more use in trying to persuade others, to those who would oppose the correct teaching you must speak with even greater fervour. And while life remains in you, you will surely see the results of your efforts."
(WND, Vol.2, page 457)

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"You have associated with a friend in the orchid room and have become as straight as mugwort growing among hemp."

(On Establishing the Correct Teaching for the Peace of the Land
- WND, Vol. 1, page 23)

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"Everything in life has meaning. If our lives were perfect, we couldn't demonstrate the greatness of Buddhism or life's underlying power. The Bodhisattvas of the Earth exemplify the principle of 'voluntarily assuming the appropriate karma.'"*

The Buddhism of the Sun—Illuminating the World, "The True Aspect of All Phenomena"—Take the Lead in Spreading the Philosophy of Respect for the Dignity of Life! A Life Dedicated to the People, June 2020 issue of the Daibyakurenge - Monthly Soka Gakkai study journal, translation released April 2021.

* Voluntarily assuming the appropriate karma: This refers to bodhisattvas who, though qualified to receive the pure rewards of Buddhist practice, relinquish them and make a vow to be reborn in an impure world in order to save living beings.
