"As Bodhisattvas of the Earth, we have each appeared in this troubled saha world, our chosen place of mission, accompanied by a vast multitude of companions. Consequently, when we work wholeheartedly to fulfil our vow to spread the Mystic Law, these companions, with whom we share deep karmic ties, begin to emerge in our environment one after another. And they come to work alongside us to realise kosen-rufu and the Daishonin's ideal of 'establishing the correct teaching for the peace of the land.' This is the principle of 'emerging from the earth' (WND–1, 385)."
