[sgi-tomyfriends-wagatomo] 19th-25th Dec. Words of the Week, 19th Dec. Daily Gosho & 20th Dec. Daily Encouragement

A translation of "Words of the Week" published in the Seikyo Newspaper based on Ikeda Sensei's recent guidance, and more.

December 19th-25th, 2022
-- WORDS OF THE WEEK --
To those precious members
and their families
who have been so kind
to offer their homes for our meetings
throughout this year
and all our other
treasured fellow members
who have selflessly
dedicated themselves
for the sake of kosen-rufu,
let's all make sure to express
our deepest appreciation and respect!
The Daishonin teaches,
"Human beings never fail to prosper
when they make good causes."*
Let's wrap up this year, proudly
and with confidence!

*"Just as flowers open up and bear fruit, just as the moon appears and invariably grows full, just as a lamp becomes brighter when oil is added, and just as plants and trees flourish with rain, so will human beings never fail to prosper when they make good causes."
- "The Third Day of the New Year"
(WND, Vol.1, page 1013)

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"If lay believers and their teacher pray with differing minds, their prayers will be as futile as trying to kindle a fire on water."

(The Eight Winds
- WND, Vol. 1, page 795)

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ——
"The Daishonin's spirit and teachings are focused on realising kosen-rufu. More important than spouting a million words of theory is helping one person to start practising Nichiren Buddhism. What matters is taking the courageous step to actually do that.

"Please always remember this point and, with hearts as vast as the ocean, embrace everything with an open mind and keep advancing together in friendship and harmony."
