"When we uphold faith in the Mystic Law, all Buddhas and heavenly deities will gather around us and work to protect us, just as a shadow follows the body. And the stronger our faith, the greater their protection.
"Let us banish the careless and complacent thinking that everything will somehow turn out fine. In this busy year end period, let's guard, especially against traffic accidents and fires.
"Nichiren Daishonin teaches us to take the utmost precautions for our safety. Being 'millions of times more careful than ever' (WND-1, 839), let's bring the year to a safe and accident-free close."
