". The Daishonin emphasises that the essence of faith is in 'transcending
all differences among themselves' (WND-1, 217). When each of us, in diverse
spheres of endeavour, loses the spirit to advance toward kosen-rufu with the
shared commitment of our mentor and to advance harmoniously with our fellow
members, we stray from the path of faith and our belief immediately falters.
Then we are liable to succumb to the fundamental darkness inherent in our
lives."
