-- TO MY FRIENDS --
In order to overcome any apathy or sluggishness we might have
we really must make an effort to change.
It is so important that we conquer our weaknesses.
Through patiently and consistently challenging ourselves,
the great drama of our human revolution shines.

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"The Daishonin writes: 'All the various teachings of the Buddha are spread by persons' (WND-1, 61). No matter how wonderful the teaching we uphold or how grand our buildings, if we do not continue to produce a steady stream of capable individuals to carry on our work, the great flow of kosen-rufu will come to a halt. Mr. Toda once said: 'People are what matter. Everything depends on people. Everything depends on each individual youth.'

"In 'On the Buddha's Prophecy,' the Daishonin writes: 'Even when [in more recent times]...priests set out from Japan to take some sutras [back] to China, no one was found there who could embrace these sutras and teach them to others. It was as though there were only wooden or stone statues garbed in priests' robes and carrying begging bowls' (WND-1, 401). In other words, he is saying that there were no successors. Any organisation will perish without successors. The only way to ensure that the correct teaching of Buddhism endures is to foster a constant stream of capable individuals who genuinely embrace and practise it."
