Translations of President Ikeda's "Words of the Week" published in the Seikyo Shimbun and more.

---- WORDS OF THE WEEK ----
Now, as we gain momentum towards our monthly discussion meetings,
that stand at the core of our great advancement,
let us remember to express our deepest gratitude and appreciation towards the families who so kindly offer their homes
as meeting places!
Let's all have wonderful and joyful conversations
with our guests and friends
and each play out a wonderful drama of our human revolution!

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"When the bodhisattva Never Disparaging makes his bow of obeisance to the four kinds of believers, the Buddha nature inherent in the four kinds of believers of overbearing arrogance is bowing in obeisance to the bodhisattva Never Disparaging. It is like the situation when one faces a mirror and makes a bow of obeisance: the image in the mirror likewise makes a bow of obeisance to oneself."
(Ongi kuden - Gosho Zenshu, page 769, The Record of the Orally Transmitted Teachings, page 165)

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"A single word of encouragement can be a tremendous driving force.... Nichiren Daishonin writes: 'Teaching another something is the same as oiling the wheels of a cart so that they turn even though it is heavy, or as floating a boat on water so that it moves ahead easily' (WND-1, 1086).
"...Even if you can't meet with them in person, a single phone call can help them break through something that may be holding them back. Sometimes even writing an encouraging note can be all it takes to change a person's life."
SGI Newsletter No. 8089, YOUTH AND THE WRITINGS OF NICHIREN DAISHONIN, Building the Future--Part 2 [of 2], from the August 14th, 2010, issue of the Seikyo Shimbun, translated Oct.8th, 2010
