[SGI-ToMyFriends-Wagatomo] 2nd January Daily Gosho + 3rd January Daily Encouragement

*Seikyo Newspaper has two days of holidays for its staff and the delivery people. In this period there will be no "To My Friends" but we will carry on with Daily Gosho & Daily Encouragement

Sunday, January 2nd, 2011
--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"The moon appears in the west and sheds its light eastward, but the sun rises in the east and casts its rays to the west. The same is true of Buddhism. It spread from west to east in the Former and Middle Days of the Law, but will travel from east to west in the Latter Day."
(On the Buddha's Prophecy - The Writings of Nichiren Daishonin, Vol.1, page 401)
Selection source: SGI President Ikeda's essay, Seikyo Shimbun, January 1st, 2011

Monday, January 3rd, 2011
---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"Strive to read the Daishonin's writings again and again and put his teachings into practise. If you do so, they will become a part of your life, and you will gain strong conviction in faith. The teachings that you deeply engrave in your heart will definitely become the foundation for victory in life and enable you to transform your karma.

"The Daishonin writes: 'Those who are imbued with the Lotus Sutra will invariably become Buddhas' (WND-2, 675). He also says: 'One who listens to even a sentence or phrase of the [Lotus] sutra and cherishes it deep in one's heart may be likened to a ship that crosses the sea of the sufferings of birth and death' (WND-1, 33). You can become a person of outstanding wisdom who will be able to sail through the stormy seas of life like a great ship and carry many others along with you to the harbour of happiness."
