"Nichiren Daishonin sent this wholehearted encouragement to his young disciple Nanjo Tokimitsu who strove throughout the Atsuhara Persecution in the same spirit as he did.

"The conviction that we will win no matter how trying the present times and definitely attain Buddhahood—this is the unshakable belief that transforms karma into mission. Courageous faith transforms hardship into joy. Here we find the unwavering optimism of Nichiren Daishonin's Buddhism."
