-- TO MY FRIENDS --
Let's be on our guard and maintain a very strict vigilance
against heavy rainfall, floods and landslides.*
Under no circumstances should we allow negligence or unpreparedness to creep in.
Exercise extreme caution, just as the gosho says,
"be millions of times more careful than ever."**
Let us also remind and call on our friends and acquaintances,
making sure that everyone is absolutely safe.

* Another typhoon - Typhoon Roke (No. 15) landed in the Kanto and Tohoku regions of Japan on September 21st bringing some of the heaviest rainfall, strong winds and flooding not seen for many years.

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"If a person cannot manage to cross a moat ten feet wide, how can he
cross one that is a hundred or two hundred feet?"

(The Actions of the Votary of the Lotus Sutra - The Writings of
Nichiren Daishonin, Vol.1, page 766)

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"The life of each individual is incomparably precious and noble. The aim of Nichiren Daishonin's Buddhism, the purpose of faith in the Mystic Law, is to enable each individual to shine with the greatest possible happiness.

"Consequently, this fundamental Buddhist spirit to thoroughly treasure each person and leave no one behind pulses nowhere more powerfully and vibrantly than in the SGI districts that we have built and nurtured.

"The district is the place where each person can grow and develop a solid foundation of faith, practice, and study; the place where each person can overcome their personal challenges and advance towards attaining Buddhahood in this lifetime; and the place from which each person can set forth and take action in society as a champion of kosen-rufu."
SGI Newsletter No. 8328, The District Is the Main Force for Victory, from the October 2011 issue of Daibyakurenge, translated Sep. 20th, 2011
