--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"All the characters in which the Lotus Sutra is written represent living Buddhas. But because we have the eyes of common mortals, we see them as characters. It is like the example of the Ganges River. Hungry spirits see the waters of the river as fire, human beings see them as water, and heavenly beings see them as amrita. The waters are the same in all cases, but each type of being sees them differently, according to the effects of its karma."
(Letter to Horen - The Writings of Nichiren Daishonin, page 517)

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"There is an immense need for citizens networks at the community level, not least in terms of their ability to provide important support in times of unexpected natural disasters and other calamities. In that respect, our SGI districts are precious pillars of security and hope.

"The Daishonin writes: 'The votary of the Lotus Sutra is like the sun or the lion' (WND-1, 613). And, today, our districts are gatherings of individuals who are 'suns of happiness' and 'lions of victory.'

"Let's start from the district level in encouraging and fostering new capable people in order to ensure that the SGI continues to grow with fresh, youthful vitality."
SGI Newsletter No. 8328, The District Is the Main Force for Victory, from the October 2011 issue of Daibyakurenge, translated Sep. 20th, 2011
