---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"Where is happiness found? How can we achieve it? The great Russian author Leo Tolstoy (1828–1910) declared: 'Happiness is found in gladly fulfilling one's life purpose.'[1]

"Neither wealth, nor fame, nor an easy life guarantees happiness. Rather, happiness is to be found in steadfastly carrying out one's mission while bravely confronting and persevering through adversity, unfair attacks, and difficult circumstances. Joy, pride, and fulfillment flow forth from such unflagging dedication. This is the true essence of happiness."

SGI Newsletter No. 9407, "The Wise Will Rejoice While the Foolish Will Retreat," from the July 2016 issue of the Daibyakurenge, translation released 16th June, 2016

[1] Translated from Russian. Leo Tolstoy, Polnoe sobranie sochinenii (Complete Works) (Moscow: Terra, 1992), vol. 67, p. 199.
