A translation of President Ikeda's "Words of the Week"
published in the Seikyo Shinbun and more.

July 11th -17th, 2016
-- WORDS OF THE WEEK --
Hurrah for the victory* that was achieved by everyone
united in the spirit of "Many in Body, One in Mind"!
It is absolutely certain, my dear respect-worthy friends,
that the treasures of the heart that you accumulate
through shedding precious gold like sweat
   for the sake of kosen-rufu
    are indeed boundless and immeasurable.
Having even greater hope
and strengthening the solidarity of our trust,
  more than ever,
let's move forwards into the future!

(*)In the Upper House election held in Japan on Sun. July 10th, 2016, all 7 candidates fielded by the Komeito party in single-seat districts won and another seven were voted into office on the proportional representation ballot. The Soka Gakkai in Japan provides electoral support to the Komeito Party, a coalition partner of the present government. The party aims to give political voice to the most vulnerable and underrepresented members of society, with policies promoting peace, social security, education, the environment and human rights. The Soka Gakkai does not provide financial backing to any candidate or political party. Outside Japan, SGI organizations do not engage in any politics at all.

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"Treating one's friends with courtesy means that, although one may encounter them ten or twenty times in the course of a single day, one greets them courteously as though they had traveled a thousand or two thousand miles to see one, never showing them indifference.."

(The Four Virtues and
the Four Debts of Gratitude -
WND, Vol. II, page 636)

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"Sharing Nam-myoho-renge-kyo with others is the fundamental practice of the Latter Day of the Law. It is a challenging but rewarding endeavour.

"The important thing is to chant earnestly to the Gohonzon for the happiness of those with whom you seek to share Buddhism. Then, you can go out and speak with confidence and sincerity about your own experiences in faith and the real value of the Soka Gakkai.

"Please don't worry about producing immediate results. The more you courageously reach out to others in dialogue, the more people you enable to form a connection with Buddhism. I hope you will continue challenging yourselves, persevering in your own unique way with a lionlike spirit." (Speech, September 27th, 2005)
