---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"During a study session at a summer training course for the youth division, second Soka Gakkai president Josei Toda posed the following question: 'Why have we been born and gathered together in this extremely troubled time of the Latter Day of the Law?' Looking at us intently, he continued: 'We were born in this world to carry out the Buddha's work.'

"We, the young people he was speaking to, were all dealing with the harsh realities of life—with financial hardship, illness, and an endless series of other problems. But Mr. Toda taught us that we had chosen to be born in those challenging circumstances in order to lead others who were suffering to enlightenment. We could, therefore, overcome even the harshest karma, and in fact change it into a mission to help everyone become happy.

"The most profound and powerful awakening in life is awakening to the reality that each one of us is a Bodhisattva of the Earth."

SGI Newsletter No. 9424, Bodhisattvas of the Earth Emerging in a Steady Stream, from the editorial of the August 2016 issue of the Daibyakurenge, translation released 15th July, 2016.
