[SGI-ToMyFriends-Wagatomo] 4-10 July 2016 Words of the Week, 4 July Daily Gosho & 5 July Daily Encouragement

* Whoops we mixed the days and dates up yesterday! The 4th is indeed a Monday, even in Tokyo!

A translation of President Ikeda's "Words of the Week"
published in the Seikyo Shimbun and more.

July 4th - 10th, 2016
-- WORDS OF THE WEEK --
The Daishonin states:
 "Buddhism primarily concerns itself
   with victory or defeat."*
Let's first and foremost decide
that we will definitely be victorious
and chant daimoku resolutely to the very end!
It's our own unyielding perseverance
 to continue to challenge things
until the very last moment, no matter what,
   that moves the Buddhist gods
    - the supportive forces in the universe -
     and determines our victories.
May everyone, together, have reason to
 shout triumphant cries of victory
  in this new era!

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"A blue fly, if it clings to the tail of a thoroughbred horse, can travel ten thousand miles, and the green ivy that twines around the tall pine can grow to a thousand feet."

(On Establishing the Correct Teaching for the Peace of the Land
- WND, Vol. I, page 17)

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"Soka Gakkai members are friends in faith linked by ties from the remote past. In the Soka Gakkai, if a fellow member is suffering from illness or some other problem, many members will chant for that person's happiness and well-being. And when one of our members passes away, everyone chants sincerely for that person's eternal happiness.

"Seniors in faith also regularly visit newer members to encourage them, wanting to help them deepen their faith and become happy. They listen to each person's problems, share their sufferings with true empathy and concern, and encourage them wholeheartedly.

"They are completely unselfish. There is no realm more noble, beautiful, and filled with pure love for one's fellow human beings. The second phase of kosen-rufu is about spreading this intangible treasure fostered within the Soka Gakkai to the whole of society. Because we are living in an age rife with mistrust, suspicion, and jealousy, I call on you to build a model of wonderful human harmony in your local community…."
