-- TO MY FRIENDS --
In the course of a day
one at least smiles twice or thrice
in their (our parents) direction". *
Let's greet our mothers and fathers
cheerfully with a smile,
conveying our appreciation
with kind warm words.
Let's treat them
with respect and kindness
as if we were repaying
our debts of gratitude!
*"First, being filial toward one's father and mother means that though a parent may act unreasonably or speak in a tone of ill will, one never shows the slightest anger or looks displeased. One never in any way disobeys a parent; is always mindful of providing a parent with all manner of good things, and if this happens to be impossible, in the course of a day one at least smiles twice or thrice in their direction." - "The Four Virtues and the Four Debts of Gratitude", WND-II, page 636

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"Arouse deep faith, and diligently polish your mirror day and night. How should you polish it? Only by chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo."

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"'The sun is brilliant, and the moon, clear. The words of the Lotus Sutra are brilliant and clear, clear and brilliant, like the reflection of a face in a bright mirror, or the image of the moon on clear water.'

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"'The sun is brilliant, and the moon, clear. The words of the Lotus Sutra are brilliant and clear, clear and brilliant, like the reflection of a face in a bright mirror, or the image of the moon on clear water.'
- Good Fortune in This Life, (WND-1, 654–55).
"The words of the Lotus Sutra and the writings of Nichiren Daishonin are a brilliant source of light that illuminates the eternal future. They are a bright mirror that shows the way to peace and happiness for all humankind.
"The heritage of faith dedicated to kosen-rufu, which is the heart of Nichiren Buddhism, lives on solely in the Soka Gakkai. It is in this noble community of practitioners that we can truly polish our lives based on Buddhist practice and study.
"Reading the Gosho together and coming into contact with the Daishonin's sunlike spirit, let's advance along the brilliant, clear, and hope-filled path of human revolution."
