[SGI-ToMyFriends-Wagatomo] July 3rd-9th, 2017 Words of he Week, July 3rd Daily Gosho + July 4th Daily Encouragement

A translation of "Words of the Week" published in the Seikyo Shinbun based on President Ikeda's recent guidance, and more.

July 3rd-9th, 2017
-- WORDS OF THE WEEK --
Hurrah for all our noble fellow members in Tokyo
and all who so selflessly supported them!
This is an outstanding victory
for the unity of ordinary people.
The principle that unseen virtue brings about visible reward*
has been greatly proven.
Now, by earning even more trust from others and
accumulating even more benefit
and good fortune than ever,
let's all lead triumphant lives!

*"This is precisely what is meant by the statement that unseen virtue brings about visible reward." - "The Farther the Source, the Longer the Stream", WND-I, page 940

(*)Soka Gakkai (in Japan) endorses the Komeito party, which has won a sweeping victory in 2nd July, 2017, Tokyo Metropolitan assembly election. All 23 candidates won their seats.

The Komeito was originally founded by Soka Gakkai in 1964 but later separated as an independent entity, with Soka Gakkai providing only electoral support. The Komeito is committed to giving political voice to the most vulnerable and underrepresented members of society on the issues of peace, social security, education, the environment and human rights. It works to protect the interests of non-union labour and people who work in small and medium-sized companies, constituencies that makes up a large segment of the Japanese public.

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
Mr. Toda said: 'Simply attending Gosho lectures or reading the Daishonin's writings and saying that one understands the teachings is still the realm of theory; the important thing is to exert oneself in faith and practice in accord with those teachings.'

"He further stressed to us that actually transforming our lives is more important than mere understanding.

"Study based on the mentor-disciple spirit is the Soka Gakkai tradition. It is study for winning, providing us with the foundation to overcome obstacles by learning from the conduct of the Daishonin and summoning forth the spirit of a lion king. It is study for deepening our faith.

"It is study for sharing the Mystic Law and realising kosen-rufu, which spurs us to talk to others about the inspiration and joy we gain from studying the Daishonin's teachings.

"It is study for inner transformation and human revolution, providing us with an opportunity to come into contact with the Daishonin's spirit and confirm that we ourselves embody the Mystic Law.

"Practice and study arise from faith, and faith is deepened by pursuing 'the two ways of practice and study.' This is the rhythm of human revolution and kosen-rufu."
