[sgi-tomyfriends-wagatomo] Nov. 13th-20th, 2022 Words of the Week, Nov. 13th Daily Gosho + Nov. 14th Daily Encouragement

* There is a Japanese national press holiday tomorrow so Words of the Week appears one day earlier than normal. Don't worry we'll still be here tomorrow with a slightly reduced service but still with some gems of guidance!

A translation of "Words of the Week" published in the Seikyo Newspaper based on Ikeda Sensei's recent guidance, and more.

November 13th-20th, 2022
-- WORDS OF THE WEEK --
Our daimoku infused with the vow
of mentor and disciple
has infinite practical power.
The Daishonin teaches,
"The seeds of Buddhahood sprout
    as a result of conditions."*
Let's challenge ourselves,
more than ever, to meet new people
and help them form a connection
with Buddhism for the sake
of their happiness,
starting right now,
right where we are!

*Gosho: "I entrust you with the propagation of Buddhism in your province. It is stated that 'the seeds of Buddhahood sprout as a result of conditions, and for this reason they preach the single vehicle.'"
- "The Properties of Rice"

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
Where strong winds cause the grasses to bend and flashes of lightning fill people with alarm—in a world such as ours, how wonderful it is that to this day you remain unshaken in your faith! They say that when roots are deep, the leaves will not wither; when there is a jewel in the heart of the fountain, its waters will never cease to flow. And how deep are the roots of your faith, how pure the jewel in your heart. How admirable, how admirable!

(Reply to the Lay Nun of Kubo
- WND, Vol. 2, page 755)
