[SGI-ToMyFriends-Wagatomo] 17th Feb. To My Friends & Daily Gosho + 18th Feb. Daily Enc.

* Sorry yesterday there was a slight mistake in regards to President Toda's birthplace. He was actually born in Ishikawa Prefecture, not Hokkaido, but his family moved to Hokkaido when he was very young.

A translation of President Ikeda's "To My Friends" published in the Seikyo Shimbun and more.

-- TO MY FRIENDS --
"For the sake of kosen-rufu!"
As long as our hearts are overflowing with a deep resolve
to direct our energies towards realising such a noble goal,
we will find great life force, quite naturally,
welling up from the depths of our beings.
We will also be able to resolve and overcome
absolutely every single one of our sufferings and challenges!

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"Whatever trouble occurs, regard it as no more than a dream, and think only of the Lotus Sutra."
(Letter to the Brothers - The Writings of Nichiren Daishonin, Vol.1, page 502)

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"Everything starts with raising capable people.

"I am presently engaged in a dialogue with Gao Zhanxiang, chairman of the Chinese Culture Promotion Society (CCPS). In our discussions, one of the topics we are focusing on is fostering youth. Mr. Gao is a past leader of the largest Chinese youth organisation, the All-China Youth Federation (ACYF). With that as his starting point, he is now devoting his energies to the development of youth.

"Mr. Gao has suggested four guidelines for interacting with youth: warmth, respect, trust, and responsibility. First, 'warmth' means engaging young people with a warm, humanistic manner. Young people do not respond to a stiff, cold attitude. "'Respect' means respecting youth as individuals, not treating them in a condescending way or looking down on them. Those who respect young people will have that respect returned. 'Trust' means believing in and trusting young people. Trust nurtures self-confidence and ability. 'Responsibility' means taking on the responsibility to raise youth.

"Mr. Gao emphasises: 'Youth are like seeds growing towards the future. When you nurture them with warmth like a gentle spring breeze, they will come to flower and bear fruit."

"I agree wholeheartedly. More than ever, we need to impart a warm spring breeze of encouragement to the youth."
