-- TO MY FRIENDS --
Our appreciation to all the members of the Memorial Services Group!
It's the way we conduct ourselves,
doing our very best to help people overcome difficult times
that proves the greatness and validity of our Buddhist practice.
The Daishonin is undoubtedly praising our noble efforts.

* One of the roles of the MSG is to conduct the memorial services for our friends who are deceased.

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"To agonise and suffer over how to solve a problem or dilemma is a manifestation of a powerful drive for self-improvement and a strong sense of personal responsibility. It is actually one of our unique qualities as human beings, for only we have the capacity to worry about the welfare of our fellow humans and create a better future.

"The eminent British historian Arnold J. Toynbee (1889–1975), with whom I published a dialogue, cherished an ancient Greek saying: 'It is through suffering that learning comes.'[1] Suffering and dealing with problems give rise to great wisdom.

"A Buddha, in essence, is someone who is worried or concerned about the welfare of all living beings. The verse portion of the "Life Span" (16th) chapter of the Lotus Sutra that we recite in gongyo closes with the words:

"'At all times I think to myself:
How can I cause living beings
to gain entry into the unsurpassed way
and quickly acquire the body of a Buddha?' (LSOC16, 273)

"Simply put, this means that the Buddha's constant thought is how to help everyone enter the path to supreme enlightenment and quickly attain Buddhahood.

"A Buddha is always concerned about how best to lead others to enlightenment and happiness, summoning wisdom and taking action for that end."
