-- TO MY FRIENDS --
It is through experiencing hardship and suffering
that we truly can train ourselves and become strong.
By giving our all to summoning forth
the great strengths of our faith and practice,
no matter how difficult the situation might be,
let's manifest the great powers of the Buddha and Law within our lives!*
*four powers (Jpn. "shi-riki" )
The power of the Buddha, the power of the Law, the power of faith, and the power of practice. In Nichiren's teachings, the four powers are known as the four powers of the Mystic Law, whose interaction enables one to have one's prayers answered and attain Buddhahood. The power of the Buddha is the Buddha's compassion in saving all people. The power of the Law indicates the boundless capacity of the Mystic Law to lead all people to enlightenment. The power of faith is to believe in the Gohonzon, the object of devotion that embodies the power of the Buddha and the power of the Law, and the power of practice is to chant Nam-myoho-renge-kyo oneself and teach others to do the same. To the extent that one brings forth one's powers of faith and practice, one can manifest the powers of the Buddha and the Law within one's own life. (The Soka Gakkai Dictionary of Buddhism)

---- WORDS OF THE WEEK ----
Let's give our best possible support and encouragement
to the newer less experienced members so that they become
even more capable than we are!
This is how the SGI has always been able to develop.
Especially to those who have newly joined,
let's always make an effort to offer warm and heartfelt encouragement.
Together, let's make this spring
a fresh new start towards everyone's development and growth.
