-- TO MY FRIENDS --
It is the selfless commitment of our pioneer members,
through all their sweat and tears,
that made today's Soka Gakkai and SGI's development happen.
Let's never ever forget that pioneering spirit
for cultivating and achieving kosen-rufu, no matter what!

--- DAILY GOSHO ---

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"My mentor, second Soka Gakkai president Josei Toda, taught me over and over again the importance of warmly greeting others. In addition to various scholarly subjects, he also instructed me in basic manners and courtesy, including how to greet others.

"The way we greet others shows what is in our heart. It conveys our goodwill.

"The lessons I learned from President Toda about greeting people from the heart helped me a lot when it came to making friends with world leaders. All of the truly great people I have met had a wonderful way of greeting others.

"Whether I am meeting with the president of a country or a small child, my intention is to greet everyone with utmost sincerity. That's because I respect each person's precious life.

"Nichiren Daishonin says that Shakyamuni Buddha appeared in the world to set an example of how human beings should behave (cf. WND-1, 852).

"The way we greet others, therefore, is also very important. I think that those who can greet others in a cheerful, friendly way at all times are truly admirable."

SGI Newsletter No. 8769, Soar into the Skies of Hope! [9] Greeting Others and Expressing Thanks, from the 1st Jan., 2013, issue of Boys and Girls Hope News, the Soka Gakkai monthly newspaper for the boys and girls division translated 28th, May, 2013.
