[SGI-ToMyFriends-Wagatomo] 14th Feb. 2014 To My Friends and Daily Gosho plus 15th Feb. 2014 Daily Enc.

* Apologies for the delay! Tokyo is under heavy snow and where we are there is over a metre which for us is VERY unusual!
It also means lots of community shovelling from the early hours to protect people's roofs from caving in
and people being hit by avalanches from their roofs! Anyhow we have a break for an hour or two…

A translation of President Ikeda's "To My Friends"
published in the Seikyo Shimbun and more.

— TO MY FRIENDS —
Many of our Byakuren Group* members are
now cheerfully engaging themselves in dialogue with others
and sharing this hope-filled phylosophy for the sake of their friends' happiness.
Let's all help the expansion and development of
the solidarity of our Kayo sisters**
by chanting daimoku for their victories and
giving them all the support and encouragement we can give!

*Byakuren Group is one of the Young Women's Division groups. At SGI community centres, they guide and support the participants of our meetings.

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"I am praying that, no matter how troubled the times may become, the Lotus Sutra and the ten demon daughters will protect all of you, praying as earnestly as though to produce fire from damp wood, or to obtain water from parched ground."

(On Rebuking Slander of the Law and Eradicating Sins - The Writings of Nichiren Daishonin, Vol. 1, page 444) Selection source: "Kyo no Hosshin", Seikyo Shimbun, Feb 14th, 2014

—— DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ——
"We need to remember that even should sincere practitioners of the Mystic Law die in accidents or of illness, they will still definitely attain Buddhahood as a result of their steadfast faith.

"Not only the deceased who sincerely practiced faith in the Mystic Law throughout their life, but also those whose friends and families chant daimoku for them after their passing are certain to enter the pathway to happiness enduring eternally throughout the three existences of past, present, and future.

"The Daishonin was always deeply considerate of the surviving relatives of the deceased and sympathised with their grief. Referring to a deceased follower, he writes: "When he was alive, he was a Buddha in life, and now he is a Buddha in death. He is a Buddha in both life and death" (WND-1, 456). When death is enveloped in the chanting of Nam-myoho-renge-kyo dedicated to the realisation of kosen-rufu, it is a departure toward eternal victory. The deceased is certain to rejoin the ranks of those striving for kosen-rufu with a fresh, pure, revitalised life."

SGI Newsletter No. 8929, Learning from the Writings of Nichiren Daishonin: The Teachings for Victory, [53] "The Treatment of Illness," Dispel the Darkness of the Times with the Supreme Philosophy of Humanity!, from the June 2013 issue of the Daibyakurenge, translated 7th Feb. 2014
