Whenever we decide to challenge something,
it is vital to have momentum.
First of all, let's chant daimoku with the unyielding determination
to accomplish whatever it is, no matter what, and from there, take action!
By making a vow to ourselves to achieve the goal,
let's initiate a chain reaction of courage, joy and happiness.

"The Daishonin's spirit was to always cherish each individual. Reading his letters, we often find that he not only offers guidance to the person to which the letter is addressed, but also expresses his appreciation and good wishes for their spouses and imparts words of encouragement to their children and relatives.

"Hearing from Toki Jonin that his wife is ill, the Daishonin writes to him: 'I am as concerned about the illness of your wife, the lay nun Toki, as though it were I myself who is ailing, and day and night I pray to the heavenly gods that she will recover' (WND-2, 666). With deep compassion, he always reached out to support and encourage every person he could.

"The humanistic realm of the SGI has inherited the Daishonin's spirit, with members sharing one another's joys and sufferings and supporting one another wholeheartedly.

"…The SGI is based on valuing the individual and enabling each person to manifest their limitless power to make a difference to the world. That is the meaning of a religion serving humanity, a religion standing on the side of the people."
