-- TO MY FRIENDS --
People are drawn to where there is a happy atmosphere.
Our earnest attitude can certainly inspire others
and  encourage them to challenge themselves.
By always keeping our minds open to new ideas and thoughts,
let's give all the possible encouragement we can
to our precious Future Division members
(primary and secondary school students)
to help brighten up the path ahead of them!

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"When that is done, then both oneself and others together will take joy in their possession of wisdom and compassion."

(Chapter Eighteen: The Benefits of Responding with Joy - The Record of the Orally Transmitted Teachings, Vol 1, page 146)  Selection source: "Myoji no Gen", Seikyo Shimbun, May 10th, 2014

—— DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ——
"Those who abandon their practice of the Daishonin's Buddhism after the slightest bit of criticism or attack are not people of genuine faith. Such behaviour is truly regrettable. Mr. Toda emphasised the need for members to have courage in order for the development of kosen-rufu to progress. Today's SGI was built by people who, just as Mr. Toda strictly instructed, maintained their faith amid the many tough struggles we encountered over the years.

"Please never abandon your faith. Courage is crucial. Let us not be fainthearted. Courage will win the respect of our partners, our children, our friends, and society at large. The Daishonin declares: 'Nichiren's disciples cannot accomplish anything if they are cowardly' (WND-1, 481). This was also what Mr. Toda taught."

SGI Newsletter No. 8993, President Ikeda's Speech, from SGI Newsletter No. 3555 with slight revisions, excerpted text appeared in 28th April, 2014, issue of the Seikyo Shimbun, translation released 7th May, 2014
