-- TO MY FRIENDS --
Let's exercise the utmost precaution as the large scale typhoon
(Neogiri, hits the Okinawan islands*).
Let's take any possibility of calamity such as from gales,
downpours and flooding seriously.
And, let's make sure that we look out for and alert each other so that
we are all fully prepared.
The gosho says: "be millions of times more careful than ever!"*
*As of the evening of July 8th, 2014, 540,000 people have been advised
to evacuate as Typhool Neogiri lashes the Okinawan islands here in Japan.

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"To accept is easy; to continue is difficult. But Buddhahood lies in
continuing faith. Those who uphold this sutra should be prepared to
meet difficulties."
(The Difficulty of Sustaining Faith - The Writings of Nichiren
Daishonin, Volume 1, page 471)
Selection source: Gosho for July, Seikyo Shimbun, July 1st

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"Our feelings and emotions are constantly changing––one moment
we may feel happy, the next sad; one moment enjoying ourselves,
and the next filled with pain. This is especially true during the
time of youth.
"Nichiren Daishonin cites the words: 'Become the master of your
mind rather than let your mind master you' (WND-1, 502).
"It might seem fun to just do as we please all the time, but if we
live our lives ruled by fleeting emotions, we will eventually lose
our way. That's why it's so important to have a mentor whose
guidance and example we can keep in our hearts as a
spiritual compass.
"Mr. Toda is always in my heart. To this day, I have an inner
dialogue with him every day. I always ask myself what he'd
do in my situation and what would make him proud. Because
I have this inner foundation, I am never uncertain or afraid.
"The path of mentor and disciple is the supreme path of
human life. It is a path of justice and a path of hope. It is a
path of happiness and victory."
