-- TO MY FRIENDS --
If we are half-hearted in our efforts
then we cannot expect to achieve anything significant.
The road ahead will open up,
as long as we are diligent and unremitting in our efforts.
Let's decide: "I am definitely going to win,"
and advance forwards, ever forwards!

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"Suffer what there is to suffer, enjoy what there is to enjoy. Regard
both suffering and joy as facts of life, and continue chanting
Nam-myoho-renge-kyo, no matter what happens. How could this be
anything other than the boundless joy of the Law? Strengthen your
power of faith more than ever."

—— DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"With regard to reading the writings of Nichiren Daishonin, second Soka Gakkai president Josei Toda said: 'Rather than simply trying to understand the Daishonin's words, I seek to come into contact with his immense compassion, his towering conviction, his ardent spirit to aid and protect others, and his solemn and unswerving commitment to kosen-rufu.'

"Countless members have the experience of taking to heart the Daishonin's words—for instance, the passage 'Sick people will surely attain Buddhahood' (WND-1, 937)—and turning their illness into an impetus for transforming their karma.

"Also, once we deeply understand the Daishonin's message that 'When great evil occurs, great good follows' (WND-1, 1119), even if we suffer the direst of adversities, we will not be swayed or intimidated.

"All we need do is win in life and show actual proof of our Buddhist practice in our daily lives. When we do that, we will be able to share the joy of faith with those around us in a very natural way.

"And no matter what happens, it's vital that we maintain unwavering faith in the Mystic Law throughout our lives."

SGI Newsletter No. 9104, Opening a New Era of Kosen-rufu Together, (36) The Daishonin's Teachings Give Us the Strength to Move Forward, from 6th Oct., 2014, issue of the Seikyo Shimbun, translation released 14th Oct., 2014.
