A translation of President Ikeda's "Words of the Week" published in the Seikyo Shinbun and more January 26th - February 1st, 2015 -- WORDS OF THE WEEK -- This year marks the 40th anniversary of the SGI's founding.* The blossom of great capable Bodhisattvas of the Earth is now widespread on all five continents. With the same spirit of Nichiren Daishonin, "But still I am not discouraged,"** let's live out our lives by planting the seeds of happiness! *January 26: SGI Day - http://www.sgi.org/resource-center/study-materials/january-26-sgi-day.html **"The Essentials for Attaining Buddhahood" - WND-I, page 748 Monday, January 26th, 2015 --- DAILY GOSHO --- "It is like the situation when one faces a mirror and makes a bow of obeisance: the image in the mirror likewise makes a bow of obeisance to oneself." (Chapter Twenty: The Bodhisattva Never Disparaging, Point Twenty-nine, concerning the bow of obeisance related to the Dharma-realm -The Record of the Orally Transmitted Teachings, page 165) Selection source: SGI President Ikeda's Peace Proposal 2015 (Summary: http://www.sgi.org/news/press-releases/press-releases-2015/peace-proposal-2015-press-releases.html), Seikyo Shimbun, January 26th, 2015 Tuesday, January 27th, 2015 ---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ---- "'A great revolution in just a single individual will help achieve a change in the destiny of a nation and, further, will enable a change in the destiny of all humankind.' This expresses in contemporary terms the Buddhist principle of 'three thousand realms in a single human moment of life.' "A transformation in our fundamental mind-set transforms the three realms of existences—that is, the realm of the five components (form, perception, conception, volition, and consciousness, which are said to merge to form an individual being), the realm of living beings, and the realm of the environment.[1] In other words, a change in our attitude or determination first effects a change in our own life. It can positively impact our health and vigour and allow us to bring forth limitless wisdom. Those who have transformed their lives in this way can guide others in the direction of happiness. They can also change society and the natural environment, transforming the world into a wonderful realm of peace and plenty." SGI Newsletter No. 9185, The Wisdom for Creating Happiness and Peace, Part 2: Human Revolution, Chapter 7: What Is Human Revolution? 7.1 The Theme of The Human Revolution and The New Human Revolution. From a speech delivered at a Nagano Prefecture General Meeting, Nagano Training Center, Karuizawa, Nagano Prefecture, 6th Aug., 1994. From the January 2015 issue of the Daibyakurenge. Translation re-released Jan. 26th, 2015. [1] The three realms of existence form an integral component of the Buddhist principle of "three thousand realms in a single moment of life"—the number three thousand here deriving from the following calculation: 10 (Ten Worlds) × 10 (Ten Worlds) × 10 (ten factors) × 3 (three realms of existence). * The Japanese kanji is available by clicking on Seikyo Shinbun's web-site address at http://www.seikyoonline.jp/news/index.html --KONSHU NO KOTOBA-- "SGI" NO HOSSOKU YONJUSSHUNEN.
