--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"Even if you are not the Venerable Mahakashyapa, you should all perform a dance…When Bodhisattva Superior Practices emerged from the earth, did he not emerge dancing?"

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"Let us chant daimoku imbued with a spirit of all of our deceased fellow members, family, friends, and loved ones who dedicated their lives to kosen-rufu. This is called 'transferring merit' in Buddhism, which as the words suggest means to transfer or share with others the merits and good fortune we have accumulated through our Buddhist practice. Our daily gongyo and SGI activities are in themselves a noble form of transferring merit.

"It is not easy to recover from the sadness of losing a loved one. But the lives of the deceased are linked to us through the Mystic Law and are always with us, always one and inseparable with us in our hearts. Therefore, when we chant, our daimoku directly envelops the deceased in good fortune and benefit. When we advance with bright hope, we can bring light to the deceased, illuminating the way forwards.

"Both the living and the deceased rejoicing and becoming happy together—this is the essential meaning of memorial services and praying for the deceased in Nichiren Buddhism."

SGI Newsletter No. 9167, The Song of Human Victory, What Is the Correct Path in Life?, from 14th Aug., 2014, issue of the Seikyo Shimbun, translation released 5th Jan., 2015
