Friday, May 15th, 2015 -- TO MY FRIENDS -- The surest way to winning in life lies in the two ways of practice and study. Even if it is only a single sentence or phrase, let's seriously and earnestly study the Daishonin's writings in our daily practice and SGI activities! *"Exert yourself in the two ways of practice and study. Without practice and study, there can be no Buddhism. You must not only persevere yourself; you must also teach others. Both practice and study arise from faith. In doing so, I have shown the kind of compassion that a mother does when she labors to put milk into the mouth of her infant child." This Gohonzon also is found only in the two characters for faith. [1] This is what the sutra means when it states that one can "gain entrance through faith alone" [LSOC3, 110]. - From "The Real Aspect of the Gohonzon" (WND-1, 832). "The Gohonzon that we of the SGI embrace is endowed with inexhaustible blessings. It is the great object of devotion that enables us to realise all our prayers. "What matters is our faith. Even Shariputra, a leading disciple of Shakyamuni renowned as being foremost in wisdom, could gain entry to the Buddha way only through faith (cf. LSOC3, 110).
