--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"What can we say, then, of persons who are devoting themselves to Buddhism? Surely they should not forget the debts of gratitude they owe to their parents, their teachers, and their country. But if one intends to repay these great debts of gratitude, one can hope to do so only if one learns and masters Buddhism, becoming a person of wisdom."
(On Repaying Debts of Gratitude
- WND, Vol. I, page 600)

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"The sun rises every day, even in rain or snow. Beyond the clouds, it is always there, shining serenely. Together with the sun, constant and unchanging, let us forge ahead unswervingly on the path of our mission. Our faith in the Daishonin's Buddhism of the sun is what powerfully propels us forwards on that journey.
"We lead busy, hectic lives. Our days are filled with a bewildering array of tasks and issues that we have to deal with, and that often seem to get the better of us. As we grow older, we are forced to confront the harsh realities of ageing and declining health. In addition, we live in a society where the 'eight winds'—of prosperity, decline, disgrace, honour, praise, censure, suffering, and pleasure—are forever blowing.

"That's why our faith as wise champions of invincible courage is so important. The Daishonin teaches us: 'The stronger one's faith, the greater the protection of the gods' (WND-1, 614). Unshakeable faith, in other words, activates the positive forces of the universe."
