Tomorrow is a Japanese press holiday to give all those involved in the newspaper business a break so "Words of the Week" is being run today!
A translation of "Words of the Week" published in the Seikyo Shinbun based on President Ikeda's recent guidance, and more.
April 8th-15th, 2018
-- WORDS OF THE WEEK --
Our discussion meetings
are like gardens of flowers
full of trust and friendship.
Let's be sure to always express
our appreciation
to the hosts of the meetings
and their family members who so kindly
offer their homes for our meetings.
Now, as we invite more new friends,
let's be sure to hold meetings that
are vibrant and dynamic
where the unique potential
of all can blossom freely.*
*"Just as cherry, plum, peach and damson blossoms all possess their own unique qualities, each person is unique. We cannot become someone else. The important thing is that we live true to ourselves and cause the great flower of our lives to blossom."
- Daisaku Ikeda
**When one comes to realize and see that each thing—the cherry, the plum, the peach, the damson—in its own entity, without undergoing any change, possesses the eternally endowed three bodies, then this is what is meant by the word ryō, "to include" or all-inclusive."

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"It must be ties of karma from the distant past that have destined you to become my disciple at a time like this. Shakyamuni and Many Treasures certainly realised this truth. The sutra's statement, 'Those persons who had heard the Law dwelled here and there in various Buddha lands, constantly reborn in company with their teachers,' cannot be false in any way."

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"I would like to present you with some words of encouragement Mr. Toda once gave to the Kansai women's division: 'You are all Bodhisattvas of the Earth. Chant daimoku and joyfully talk to others about Buddhism. When you do, many friends with whom you share eternal karmic bonds will appear, and a great assembly of Buddhas will appear. Courage is the key to success!'
"'Let's forge ahead, without fear'*--each and everyone of us--to a future of eternal victory and brilliant achievement.
"Stay well! Take good care of your health. I am chanting for you!"
31st Soka Gakkai Headquarters Leaders' Meeting Message, Feb. 4th, 2018. Bringing the Light of Hope to the World, translation released March 2018.
* From the lyrics of the Kansai Soka Gakkai song "Ever Victorious Skies."
