-- TO MY FRIENDS --
The Daishonin teaches us the importance of 'filial piety towards one's father and mother.'*
Oh Youth! I hope that you will set a shining example
of how to be good sons and daughters to one's parents.
Let's give them our warmest smile!
And let us shower them with words of appreciation and gratitude!
Buddhism is the ultimate path for repaying the debts of gratitude we owe to people.

*Gosho: "First, being filial towards one's father and mother means that though a parent may act unreasonably or speak in a tone of ill will, one never shows the slightest anger or looks displeased. One never in any way disobeys a parent; is always mindful of providing a parent with all manner of good things, and if this happens to be impossible, in the course of a day one at least smiles twice or thrice in their direction."
- The Four Virtues and the Four Debts of Gratitude, WND-2, page 636

** "The four virtues are (1) filial piety towards one's father and mother; (2) loyalty to one's lord (3) courtesy towards one's friends; and (4) and pity for those less fortunate than oneself.

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"Regard your service to your lord as the practice of the Lotus Sutra. This is what is meant by 'No worldly affairs of life or work are ever contrary to the true reality.'"
(Reply to a Believer - The Writings of Nichiren Daishonin, Vol.1, page 905)

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"Mr. Toda enjoyed the novels of French author Alexandre Dumas (1802-70), who penned such famous works as The Count of Monte Cristo and The Three Musketeers. A character in one of Dumas' novels, who regards cowardice as a disgrace, declares: 'See what a dignity his habitual bravery spreads over his countenance.' Dignity is a reflection of integrity and inner strength, as well as a bulwark for victory."
