[SGI-ToMyFriends-Wagatomo] To My Friends & Daily Gosho Dec. 10th + Daily Enc. Dec. 11th

A translation of President Ikeda's "To My Friends" published in the Seikyo Shimbun and more.

-- TO MY FRIENDS --
The Daishonin states,
"What a joy it is for us to have been born in the
Latter Day of the Law and to have shared in the
propagation of the Lotus Sutra!"*
He also rejoices,
"I am delighted to think that, trusting in what is written
in the sutra, I am living in the fifth five-hundred-year
period, when we may expect to see the widespread
propagation of the Lotus Sutra."**
Those who wholeheartedly dedicate themselves to achieving
kosen-rufu are indeed leading absolutely fortunate and happy lives.
Today, once again, let's advance together singing
victorious songs, cheerfully and proudly!

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"(Human beings are equally vulnerable.) They give their lives for shallow, worldly matters but rarely for the Buddha's precious teachings. Small wonder they do not attain Buddhahood."
(Letter from Sado - The Writings of Nichiren Daishonin, Vol.1, page 301)

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"A Namibian proverb says: 'The old go down and the young rise,' meaning that time and the world go on. We mustn't get left behind. It's critical to pass the baton from age to age, generation to generation. Let's continue to foster capable successors. I have taken every possible opportunity to develop the youth. True victory cannot be achieved without fostering talented individuals and nurturing their potential. One isn't a genuine leader if one doesn't foster capable successors."

SGI Newsletter No. 7889, 34th SOKA GAKKAI HEADQUARTERS LEADERS MEETING—PART 2 [OF 2] True Victory Depends on Fostering Capable Successors, from the Nov. 25th, 2009 issue of the Seikyo Shimbun, translated Dec. 4th, 2009
