-- TO MY FRIENDS --
Friendships are life's treasures.
Let's cherish our old friendships and at the same time
let's take every possible opportunity to make new ones.
Associating with good people
creates for a wonderful opportunity to improve ourselves.*
*"How gratifying! You have associated with a friend in the orchid room and have become as straight as mugwort growing among hemp." ("A friend in the orchid room" indicates a person of virtue. The implication is that the company of a virtuous person works as a good influence, just as one is imbued with fragrance on entering a room filled with orchids. It is said that mugwort supported by hemp plants grows upright.) - "On Establishing the Correct Teaching for the Peace of the Land", WND-I, page 23

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"I entrust you with the propagation of Buddhism in your province. It is stated that 'the seeds of Buddhahood sprout as a result of conditions, and for this reason they preach the single vehicle.'"

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"Uniting together solidly in the spirit of 'many in body, one in mind,' let us reach out to others in dialogue and spread the great humanistic philosophy of Nichiren Buddhism in our communities.
"Expanding our circle of friendship means enabling more and more people to form a connection with the Daishonin's Buddhism, and multiplies the happiness of both ourselves and others.
"Let's set forth and continue our efforts to secure the enduring foundations for kosen-rufu and to lead winning lives.
"My dear and most precious disciples, please live each and every day to the fullest so that you can look back on your life without regret. Please support and encourage each other, working together for everyone's well-being and safety, and joyfully adorn your lives with honour and triumph."
