-- TO MY FRIENDS --
Let's all be very careful about traffic accidents!
Let's make sure that we always observe the traffic rules
by in particular not exceeding the speed limit when we drive,
or using a mobile phone while driving.
Staying free from accidents is itself a great victory.

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"I am praying that, no matter how troubled the times may become, the Lotus Sutra and the ten demon daughters will protect all of you, praying as earnestly as though to produce fire from damp wood, or to obtain water from parched ground."

(On Rebuking Slander of the Law and Eradicating Sins - The Writings of Nichiren Daishonin, Vol.1, page 444)
Selection source: SGI President Ikeda's guidance, Seikyo Shimbun, April 29th, 2012

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"'Worthy persons deserve to be called so because they are not carried away by the eight winds: prosperity, decline, disgrace, honour, praise, censure, suffering, and pleasure.'
- From 'The Eight Winds' (WND-1, 794).

"Faith in the Daishonin's Buddhism enables us to forge a solid and unshakable self. A life easily swayed by short-term gain or loss and the opinions of others is shallow and empty. Those who dedicate themselves unwaveringly to the great vow for kosen-rufu for the sake of people's happiness and the welfare of society are people of genuine substance.

"Please purposefully walk the path of your mission unaffected by the eight winds to the very end. When you do so, not only will you be protected by the positive forces of the universe, but you will also be able to perform a proud and victorious drama of human revolution and write a history of triumph that is free of all regret."

SGI Newsletter No. 8502, Living the Gosho: Words of Encouragement from SGI President Ikeda, (76) Forging a Solid and Unshakable Self, from the 24th April, 2012, issue of the Seikyo Shimbun, translated 27th April 2012
