— TO MY FRIENDS --
Let's clearly articulate our goals for our daily activities on a daily basis.
The reason why this is so important is because setting goals is directly related
to the realisation of our own happiness, as well as that of others,
and is in itself, kosen-rufu.

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"Arouse deep faith, and diligently polish your mirror day and night.
How should you polish it? Only by chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo."

(On Attaining Buddhahood in This Lifetime - The Writings of Nichiren
Daishonin, Vol. 1, page 4)

—— DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ——
"The key to fostering capable individuals is encouragement.

"Without encouragement, it is often difficult for people to take a fresh step forward. Let's sincerely encourage each person, lift their spirits, and enable them to forge ahead with a bright, upbeat spirit.

"My mentor Mr. Toda said that 'capable individuals' are not some special category of people, but are developed through being trained and fostered.

"Let's support people when they are struggling or suffering. Knowing that someone else cares will be a source of strength for them. Such warm concern builds a network of beautiful friendship.

"The Daishonin writes: 'One is the mother of ten thousand' (WND-1, 131). Even wholeheartedly encouraging one person has the potential to bring forth the power of ten thousand."

SGI Newsletter No. 8899, Humanistic Teachings for Victory, (16) Perseverance Is Strength, Sincerity Is Power, from 19th Sep., 2012, issue of the Soka Shimpo, the Soka Gakkai youth division's fortnightly newspaper translated 20th Dec. 2013
