"My mentor, second Soka Gakkai president Josei Toda, envisioned that in the Buddhist scriptures of the future our organisation would be described as Soka Gakkai Buddha.[1]

"From the perspective of our momentous endeavour that will continue on into the eternal future of the Latter Day of the Law, it is no exaggeration to say that we are still in the early, pioneering days of worldwide kosen-rufu.

"Having the courage to share the Mystic Law with one person today, teaching them about Nichiren Buddhism to the best of our ability, will produce numberless multitudes of fellow Bodhisattvas of the Earth in the future.

"Having the unwavering perseverance to remain steadfast in faith today, undefeated by even the most inexpressible calamity, will brightly illuminate a way forwards for society in the future."

[1] Mr. Toda once said: "The Soka Gakkai has appeared as the Daishonin's emissary and is practising the bodhisattva way in order to widely spread and convey the supreme teaching to all people of the Latter Day of the Law. This is surely an embodiment of the Buddha's statement: 'I have been constantly in this saha world, preaching the Law, teaching, and converting' (LSOC16, 266). The Soka Gakkai deserves to be known as 'Soka Gakkai Buddha'; it is a gathering of Buddhas."
