"Each SGI member is a noble 'emissary of Shakyamuni Buddha, lord of the teachings' (WND-1, 331). For this very reason, I would like leaders to always make the welfare and happiness of the members their first priority.
"The Lotus Sutra states: 'If you see a person who accepts and upholds this sutra, you should rise and greet him from afar, showing him the same respect you would a Buddha' (LSOC28, 365 [LS28, 324]). We must accord all of our fellow members, who are striving earnestly for kosen-rufu, the same respect we would show a Buddha.
"As leaders, please seek out those working hard behind the scenes, and personally express your thanks and appreciation to them. Sincerely praise their efforts. Do whatever you can for them. This is the golden rule of leadership in our movement."
