"Nichiren Daishonin sets forth clear guidelines with respect to the use of words:
"'Even though one may resort to harsh words, if such words help the person to whom they are addressed, then they are worthy to be regarded as truthful words and gentle words. Similarly, though one may use gentle words, if they harm the person to whom they are addressed, they are in fact deceptive words, harsh words.' (WND –1,178)
"He also asserts that the 'Lotus Sutra is the truest of true words, and the truest of truths' (WND – 2, 760).
"Nichiren Buddhism, which embodies the essence of the Lotus Sutra, sees the infinitely noble Buddha nature inherent in all people and teaches the means to reveal it. It emphasises that valuing, respecting, encouraging and helping each other is the most humanistic way of life."
