"All people without exception embody the principle of the 'mutual possession of the Ten Worlds.' If we make this truth our guide when interacting with others, it will never occur to us to abandon anyone or deny their humanity for any reason.
"Fundamentally, all people are deserving of respect; each individual is precious and irreplaceable.
"The American poet Walt Whitman (1819-92) called out to this 'individual': 'The whole theory of the universe is directed unerringly to one single individual—namely to You.'*
"Whoever you may be, you are a noble, precious being. You are the central point upon which the entire universe is focused, the poet declares."
