* There's a national press holiday in Japan tomorrow to give everyone involved in publishing and delivering a newspaper, a short break. Therefore Words of the Week is published one day earlier than normal.
A translation of "Words of the Week" published in the Seikyo Shinbun based on President Ikeda's recent guidance, and more.
June 10th - 17th, 2018
-- WORDS OF THE WEEK --
The Daishonin teaches us,
"One's mind from the very beginning
has been a Buddha."*
Boundless strength exists within our own hearts.
No matter what happens,
together with the mothers of Soka,
let's chant Nam-myoho-renge-kyo,
"the greatest of all joys."
*"This passage refers to the great joy that one experiences when one understands for the first time that one's mind from the very beginning has been a Buddha. Nam-myoho-renge-kyo is the greatest of all joys."
- OTT, page 211
Sunday, June 10th, 2018
--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"If there are those who hear the Law, then not a one will fail to attain Buddhahood."
(Winter Always Turns to Spring
- WND, Vol. 1, page 536)

SGI President Ikeda's essay,
Seikyo Shinbun, June 10th, 2018
Monday, June 11th, 2018
---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"'The protection of the gods (the benevolent functions of the universe) depends on the strength of one's faith. The Lotus Sutra is a fine sword, but its might depends on the one who wields it.'
-From 'General Stone Tiger' (WND-1, 953.)
"That fresh energy and enthusiasm of young people newly entering the workforce are a source of vitality for the places where they work. If you are such a young person, please do your best to bring a breath of fresh air to those around you.
"Some of you may feel unsure or anxious. You may also make mistakes and have to reflect on yourselves. But all of it is a learning experience.
"The Mystic Law is a precious jewelled sword. When you are busy, even chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo just three times with deep determination can bring forth great life force.
"Please remember that, when you strive with courageous faith, the heavenly deities will come to your assistance, enabling you to open the way to victory."
Advancing with the Gosho (2), (13) Make Everything a Positive Learning Experience, translated from the April 6th, 2018, issue of Seikyo Shinbun, released June 2018
